anderer Dichtername Esạd, eigentlich Mehmed ['mɛx-], türkischer Schriftsteller, * Konstantinopel 1757 oder 1758, ✝ ebenda 4. 1. 1799; Mystiker, gilt wegen seiner schlichten, aber im Ton erhabenen Dichtersprache als der letzte bedeutende Vertreter der osmanischen Diwanliteratur. Berühmter als sein Diwan (1780) wurde das allegorisch-mystische Gedicht »Hüsn ü Aschk« (1782) über die Liebe zwischen dem Mädchen Hüsn (»Schönheit«) und dem Jungen Aschk (»Liebe«).
